Roeder has done REALLY well.
If you look at the vast majority of signings by other champ clubs, they are mainly loan or permanent signings from other championship or lower league sides. The Glennster has secured SIX very decent looking young players from premiership sides. What with the players who have left the club on loan or permanently, I reckon Roeder has probably done all that at little or no cost to the club in terms of wages. Which means we have made one permanent signing in Pattison, another prem signing.
Shame no decent permanent signings, but I think these loans could work out really well. It seems to be the case that having had a player on loan gives you a significant head start on a permanenet deal for that player (look at Hucks, pattison, Taylor) and gives the club a good opportunity to try before you buy. Getting great players on loan and then targeting permanent signings from the ones who shine most seems much more astute than the sort of Grant-esqe untried panic buys we got last summer.
Shame about Martin Taylor. I think Birmingham are just plain stupid. The player wants to come, they don't want to play him. Okay, so maybe we were arguing about a couple of hundred grand, surely that will very quickly get eaten up in the wages Brum now have to pay him for the rest of the season.

I am happy with what GR has done. These loan signings are all up and coming youngsters and gives us a chance to "try before you buy" if the option comes about at the end of the season to take these players on permanently.
Still concerned at our lack of strikers but thank goodness Ched is now here until the end of the season! Its great news! Just have to pray for now injuries.
