I know what you mean Bernie. There are bad headlines and bad headlines. For instance which headline makes the most depressing reading?:-
"It's WAR! Nuclear Holecaust-We're all going to DIE!"
or
"Mystery Illness develops...all women dead, except for Cherie Blair, who must be used to re-populate human race- men of Norwich first in queue for enforced Cherie loving"
“Please prepare a presentation, lasting no longer than 10 minutes, demonstrating how you would progressively increase Lancashire’s match-day attendance, including how your particular skills and experience would assist in the process.”
Well, I know this may not sound very helpful or on-message, but I reckon the BEST way to increase attendances at cricket matches would be to NOT show cricket. Cricket is a shocker for driving people away from cricket grounds
i've got interview (mit presentation) to do on thursday.
let's call it 'interview week' :)
sounds like you've done well to get to a second interview. is it marketing based - might be an idea to bone up on some key concepts if so and it's not your particular area of expertise. if you can get your head around the basic principles/theories/models then you can usually apply them to pretty much anything :)
not a big fan of concepts and that either - usually wise to have an idea of the sort of things they might be looking for you to apply your ideas to though... *takes off serious recruitment hat*
mines for a business analysis post relating to a new personnel system - sounds much duller than it's likely to be though :)
1. Corporate sponsorship initiatives...esp maximising the corporate entertainment facilities to ensure more corporates use it for client entertainment
2. Decreased family rates, to encourage more youngsters at cricket (don't tell them I pinched that idea from NCFC)
3. Inviting local schools along on matchdays, partly to boost numbers, but MAINLY to brainwash a whole new generation of cricket fans.
4. Try to team up with other major sporting clubs in any area to promote an "All Sports Initiative" (otherwise known as piggy back marketing on the backs of bigger players like Man Poo)
Cheers Schmind. A whole load o' letter a'ter E's there. Brilliant. How's thee? Excited by De'oe (damn it!) Dissapointed it's only a loan? Worried that this whole Benjani nonsense is gonna spiral out o' control? (i sound like a pirate!)
Should be a permanent deal by the end of the week. The party line is that this often happens with 'on the deadline' deals - it's just with the protracted nature of the Benjani deal (which will go through by hook or by crook by the middle of the week I think) that means that anyone has cared enough to find out. You can turn a loan in to a perm after the deadline on a technicality and I think that the majority of the deals that happen late in the day on the 31st are done this way.
Was a bit sceptical about Defoe/sad to see Benjani go as the latter has always given 100% and never shirked for us. Having seen how Baros and Defoe played on Saturday a) I'm really pleased, b) I'm still trying to believe that PFC have these two as a strikeforce.
Transfer deal of the window was our signing of Diarra for £5.5m. In relative terms an absolute steal. He won't be with us more than 18 months but I reckon he'll sell for double that at least...

"STAND CLEAR!"
WUMPH!!!!!
*ER style medics apply shocks to ITB's chest after he slides into cardiac arrest at mere thought of cricket*
That's the worst news I've heard this year :(
TSK. You won't be saying that when we're winning.

Hey Wumus!
How was your intervooooo?
itb!
the interview was good (i think) as i've been asked back for a second one on frydee. i have to do a presentation and everything!
Fantastic! Well done!
I would imagine you would do an AMAZING prezzo!
What do you have to do?
“Please prepare a presentation, lasting no longer than 10 minutes, demonstrating how you would progressively increase Lancashire’s match-day attendance, including how your particular skills and experience would assist in the process.”
*looks blank*
*thinks a bit*
*still looks blank*
that sounds interesting, i'd love to do a presentation like that

*balks at words 'concepts' and 'theories'*
what's your interview for schmindie?
the post is 'communications and marketing assistant'. i would get to help in bat signing sessions!
ideas for you:
a) hang geoffrey boycott on the square during a county championship match - sure to bring in loads of Lancs fans :)
not a big fan of concepts and that either - usually wise to have an idea of the sort of things they might be looking for you to apply your ideas to though... *takes off serious recruitment hat*

bat signing sessions sound fabba :)
- make it free (they just said increase matchday attendance, nothing about revenue!)
- have topless cheerleaders
- no cricket
and i'd get to work with lanky the giraffe! wooop.
i'm sure i'll do my best in the pres :)
Seriously though, only joking....How about:-

Dammit ITB, I was about to suggest 2 and 3 from your list! :(
Of course, if you DO try to "brainwash a new generation of cricket fans" you might need to try slipping LSD into the kiddies' soft drinks...
A'ternoon all. How be we all?
(Blogging may be interesting. My letter a'ter 'E' key has decided to stop working. Bloody cheap keyboard!)
Surely you just need loads of fit women there?
And cheap beer.
Even I might go then.
