Well, this is more bitterness than rage I think from Ian Murray
"I felt I had to try it down there or I would be sitting in five or six years wondering 'what if?' but after Peter Grant left, it was no fun. Playing for Glenn Roeder, it was the first time in my life I felt like chucking it during a game, a lot of the players felt that way. He's an angry man, not nice to play for."
Interesting that he finds Roeder an angrier man than Grant.
PS Yawn. Coffee anyone?
PPS Morning!

I think if you insert the word "useless" in before the word "players", what Murray says actually makes sense.
I love the "after Peter Grant left, it was no fun". So Murray found being five points adrift at the bottom and not being very good at football "fun"?
And you know, I could sort of tell Murray "felt like chucking it" when he played. You could just tell.
Good riddance is what I say, and our results since the likes of him left speak for themselves. SHOCKING game on Saturday, FANTASTIC goal from Rusty.
Play-offs anyone?
It seems to me that Murray is a bit bitter.
Without trying to sound racialist at all a Scottish player, who used to be highly rated, was brought in by a Scottish manager and got found out when he couldn't cope with the level...
As ITB said, if being 5 points adrift is fun then I would rather be miserable every week.
A new manager is always going to come in and change things. It is inevitable. Someone will always feel bitter about getting dropped. Murray needs to remember that he is only out on loan (isn't he?) and that he will have to come back at the end of the season...
Sour grapes methinks... surely if Roeder was a monster then the team wouldn't be achieving such great results.
well done on overtaking the scummers in the table on saturday :D
not very professional really, bashing your previous boss like that. better to be diplomatic and say not getting opportunities under the new boss, shame to be in that situation, grateful for chance to come on loan and play first team football again, yadda yadda yadda
Murray was wank.
Morning bloggers!!
morning bernie, watch out using the w word... only melly and I are allowed to say wank :)
Murray was by far and away the worst of a poor bunch of signings. He had his chance and he blew it.
He can go and have "fun" at another bottom of the league team and stay there, as far as I'm concerned.
Hey boys!
Schmindie...are you feeling more chipper about the Defoe signing? Good result Saturday. PS...when we go up this season, we're going to kick Pompey's Rses ;¬)
Did someone mention Murray was Wank??
TSK at the use of THAT word, you naughty bloggers.
I'm not sorry if the players are having less fun under Roeder, they certainly seem to be working harder!
steady now, we are NOT going up this season. i think we could get to just outside the play-offs, i don't think any higher. me, pessimist? never!
Part of me fancies a bit of playoff drama, but then I remember what a big, bad place the Premiership is...
What word Mrs B??
Oh this is true, I'd love some play-off action but I don't want to be a Derby next season :( no no no
No no no!
You KNOWS what word Mellow you naughty girl!
If we scraped into the POs and somehow sneaked promotion, we would surely be nailed on favourites to get spanked even more comprehensively than Derby, but it's kinda got to the point where you need a prem season just to hold your own financially in the championship!
I would still like us to go up, but it sure wouldn't be pretty....
If we did go up we might be able to keep Ched and perhaps bring in a few permanent signings in key areas? Who have we go who could cut it in the Premiership do we think?
Marshall would be fine, Ched, Jamie C, Crofty on current form um... er.... um...
The Doc obviously.
*lights Patrick's blue touch paper and stands well back*
;-)
*ITB sits there looking surprisingly calm and yogic*
BOOM!!!!
*head explodes*
Of our permanent players? Crofty about good enough, ditto Russell as he is playing. Marshall good enough...Shacks I think has really come on.....REALLY not sure if Jamie C or even Ched could cut it at Prem level.
We could offer up Doc as a human sacrifice to Thor at the start of the season. It MIGHT help.....
All the billboards in the Norwich Newsagents are saying "Is this the end for Hucks?" I very much think it might be.
Hucks was great for us. He was our best player for several seasons.
(note use of past tense)
Yo ITB :) In the truly fickle way of a football fan I currently think Defoe is the best thing since sliced bread. Particulary as he and Baros looked good together ;-)
That's the first point we've taken off Chelsea in five seasons... :-/ tbh from what I saw/heard we deserved the three points rather than the draw but very encouraged indeed - particularly as we've four first teamers at the African Nations Cup to come back. Muntari, Utaka, Diop and Kanu all add something positive - I think we've the best midfield in the division outside the top 4.
Bring on Pompey v Norwich next season :))
If you get in to the Prem for next season you'll be able to strengthen mahoosively in relative terms. The TV deal is stellar now... I'm not a big fan of the amounts of money that football generates but I'm glad that we're on the gravy chain at the moment tbh...
Bliemy, don't knock the gravy train!!!! Let's face it, financial survival outside the prem is blimming tough....
It has been since ITV digital went under (and was before then in fact) ITB. It's just getting to the stage where the 'haves' really and truly 'have' now.
roeder angry? my bum.
roeder angrier than grant? it's a wonder murray's nose hasn't grown so long it's fallen off with lies like that.
i love glenn.
haha to 'my bum' :D
do you think he's mistaken roeder for anne robinson?
The fact is that Roeder has never made any secrets about tearing strips off the useless numpties at the club, and by admitting to having felt the force of the Roeder tirade Murray is giving a big clue as which category he fell into.
As if we didn't already know, after seeing him flail around ineptly on the pitch. Watching Bristol City's right winger marauding down the flank Murray was supposed to be protecting was like seeing the Mongol hoards sweeping unopposed across the Steppe.
nice analogy itb :)
