I was momentarily tempted to suggested to my other half (for she lives on the dark side) that we take an excursion to St. Mary's Stadium last night to watch the game. I talked myself out of it because I couldn't face putting any of my cash in to the coffers of that pile of arse. However, I did keep an eye out for the score.
All I can say is 'OTBC' :)))))))))))))))

Thanks Schminds! My brother went last night (he is directing an opera in one of the local prisons with a cast of lifers, believe it or not...) and said that the atmosphere in half empty St Mary's was SHITE, and that the only noise was being made by the yellow army.
You would have enjoyed their penalty miss. I was listening on the radio, and it did sound most amusing.
Well said schminds! :)
I think I'm glad I wasn't listening to the penalty on the radio, would've been too much for my already frazzled nerves to handle!
It did sound as if we were under the cosh for considerable periods.
Apparently Shacks and the Doc were excellent, although it was only ever going to be one person who conceded the penalty....
ah, glad you both enjoyed :)) yes, lumbering penalty misses by ones arch nemesees (is that the plural?) add a certain something to the sense of schadenfreude.
you could overhaul them by the weekend :))))
was doc, no?
"when he missed a penalty after Norwich's Gary Doherty had handled."
silly me, shouldn't even have wondered ;-)
Yes, it was Doc. Apparently it was an EXTRAORDINARILY obvious hand ball and I think he only just got away with not getting sent off by claiming he was pushed.
haha - what would you do if he left though, itb?
In fairness to him, he's been very very very good since Taylor left. Neil Adams made the point that our 10 game unbeaten record only started after Taylor left and Doc got back in central defence.
He IS playing well, to be completely fair, but the fact that most Norwich fans would acknowledge that with a sense of surprise tells its own story.
I think he's a solid enough defender, it's just those "Gary Doherty moments" that fill me with dread
Yeah, he's a yellow shirted Andy Griffin for sure. At Pompey there has traditionally always been at least one player (an on occasion 11 of them) to fill the home support with said 'dread'.
We're currently 'dreadless' and that is a cause for concern going forward methinks...
I think we were a little lucky last night, but hey, who's complaining?
well, if we were lucky last night, maybe it really does even out in the long run... ignoring missed penalties, apparently there should've been another one against us last night (I think my dad was watching the gillette soccer thing on sky last night), but hey, we should've had TWO against Leicester, so I think we're still owed a penalty.. though i think there's one we got away with against Colchester as well. I still rage at refs, especially Phil Dowd, he's useless.
I cant believe no ones mentiones this but.....
are lifers big opera fans?
well it's a change from rock, i.e. smashing rocks, innit?
maybe its a rock opera?
(i've got rock lobster in my head now?!!)
You would be amazed. My brother has to go in through security every morning, and direct all of these murderers (they mostly ARE murderers) about singing and stuff.
But apparently they are all just really into it.
The funny thing was that my brother's stage set designer designed this fantastic set using planks and bits of scaffolding (the prison rioters weapons of choice) only to be asked by the governor if a nice painted backdrop might not be a wiser choice....
I imagine ANYTHING is better than staring at the four walls of a cells 24/7. Even musical theatre ;-)
Quite.
Mind you, if you watch all the great crime movies, Goodfellas, Godfather etc etc, most psychopathic murderous master criminals do tend to be opera fans. Especially of Wagner.
Murderers shouldn't have such luxeries. Lock them in their cells and leave them in there. Who is paying for said opera thingy? Us i presume?
Morning :)
Great win last night!! Saturday is a huge game for both teams, 3 points on sat and i'll be feeling happy
