Not a bad idea I think. I don't think I would give any more than £5 a month. Not initially anyway. I suspect it would struggle in the early days, people won't want to give their money to something that has a risk of only a handful of people joining and only raising a couple hundred pounds. But over time, could be useful.
Hmmmmm. Bit of a cheek I think. Its not as if the fans are ungenerous in paying for their tickets/shirts/other NCFC detritus. I don't think it would appeal much to families.....
Still if you YFS chaps what to pitch in your cash thats ok I guess!
yes that is a good point melly. i guess it's always a risk.
YFS? yeah it won't be for everyone NB, a lot of people are paying plenty for shirts, season tickets etc, but it might be nice to have a transparent fund solely for new players.
It does seem like a good idea to me. Obviously it's entirely voluntary and would actually relive the pressure on gate receipts etc. The guy reckons it could raise a million a season, and that could mean a Taylor or an Evans paid for with funds not otherwise available.
It just seems like a really nice way for those supporters who feel they can afford it to show real support for the club in a way that would help prevent the sort of price rises in tickets and merchandising etc that drive a lot of supporters away who are less able to afford it.
The danger of getting duffers in on that money is the same as with funds put aside by the club for the purpose, I suppose you just have to trust the manager at the time.
another benefit is that it could potentially give fans a bit more leeway. if the manager was not to the fans' satisfaction and the fund was securing say £1m a year then a mass removal of the dd could be a way for supporters to further vote with their feet.
the cynical side of me thinks, however, that you may just see the board reduce the figure they set aside for player transactions to offset the amount raised by the fund - thus reducing their own overheads, whilst keeping the transfer kitty at the level they had always intended :(
no, i can see schmindie's point... where, let's say they might put aside a million for transfers and then the fans' kitty stumps up another million, then the board might think that the million they set aside for transfers might be better utilised elsewhere since the fans are already stumping up enough transfer money.

Good idea, but what if our hard earned £5 a month goes towards another doc or brellier? Wouldn't you feel cheated out of your money?
Good point Melly.
If I did contribute I'd have to write 'only for the purchase of boffable goalkeepers'

I will qualify my contributions thus:
"For purchase of:
1. Premiership leading scorer or
2. Well fit cheer leaders to dance around pitch before kick off,(and none of yer mingers neever)"

Yup - imagine if your cash had been spent on the Grant purchases. Brellier anyone? No?

Hi Schmindie Hi Fungus ;-)
I think you are right to be cynical!
Are you suggesting that Michael and Delia will use the supporter's fund as some kind of slush fund for their gambling trips to Vegas (Las not Jonny)?
